Walk to school

We see here former MP for Epping, Maxine McKew, accompanying school children on their way to school.

The Northern District Times reports 12/5/2009:

GIANT-SLAYER Maxine McKew is stretching her legs for national Walk Safely to School Day this Friday, May 15.

The Bennelong Federal Labor MP is encouraging children to walk to school to improve their physical and mental health, as well as reduce pollution from cars.

Ms McKew visited Ermington Public School last week to promote the event and she will also visit Denistone East Public School on Friday at 8am to take part.

About 8000 primary schools in Australia are expected to promote Walk Safely to School Day, which asks parents and carers to walk to school with their children, all or at least part of the way.

Ms McKew said children should get into the habit of daily physical activity.
