Believing or not believing in peak oil? It’s not a religious question. It’s a number crunching job.
This site is about monitoring:
(1) the global crude oil peak and its impact on the economy
(2) peaking of oil production in various countries, in particular those with geo-political importance
(3) oil dependent infrastructure like motorways and airports
(4) links between peak oil and the debt problem
(5) inter-dependencies with global warming (CO2 debt)
I started off with graphs for Gail the Actuary’s article in the Oildrum, in October 2007

The American investment banker Matthew Simmons (book: Twilight in the Desert, the coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy) used some of my graphs in his slide show to the Pentagon, on Feb 19th, 2008
Slide 37 in Matt Simmon’s Pentagon Briefing PDF
Matt Simmons’ original slide shows are no longer available as his website was closed after his death in 2010, but this link describes his visit to the Pentagon:
Nevertheless, Kathleen Jabs, head of the press office of the Joint Forces Command, indicates by e-mail that Mr. Purser [Joint Futures Group director] says “that he had access to a presentation of “Twilight in the Desert” that Matt Simmons gave to Pentagon personnel in February, 2008.”.
